Gnomon School Posts Fall Schedule

Fall Term at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects begins soon, Monday, October 3, 2005. You can register in person during office hours from Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm. You may also choose to register online at http://www.gnomon3d.com or via mail or by fax. Advice on which courses to take is available.

Who should attend? Among others, artists - experienced professionals and neophyte matte painters, for example - interested in adding high-end effects capabilities to their work or in gaining insight from master matte painter Justin Brandstater may be interested in courses being offered this semester, says Gnomon.

What÷’s being offered? Gnomon has nine one-week classes, held Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, each term. The current term schedule is posted here.

• Animation and Visual Effects Nov. 7-11
• Character Kinematics Nov. 14-18
• Character Skinning Nov. 28÷–Dec. 2
• Particles and Dynamics Dec 5-9

Anything or anybody new? Side Effects Houdini software taught by Garman Herigstad, Production Consultant at Side Effects Software and a five-week Matte Painting Workshop with Justin Brandstater, as well as the following:

• Chris Appelhans, the illustrator/concept artist who will co-teach character design along with Kazu Kibuishi, editor and creator of the FLIGHT comics anthology, and Khang Le, matte painter/production artist, NC Soft.
• Francis Glebas, who will teach storyboards, is director/storyboards & visual development/writer, formerly at Disneytoon Studios and Walt Disney Feature Animation.

How much will it cost? Tuition for one-week classes is ,625 USD.
